Commentary of the Gospell
Holy Trinity Sunday / «God so loved the world»
God loves each one of us even when we make mistakes and distance ourselves from Him.God the Father loves the world so much that, in order to save it,from the most precious thing He has: His only Son,who gives His life for humanity, rises from the dead, returns to the Father and, together with Him,sends the Holy Spirit. The Holy Trinity is the feast of God,whom the Christian faith confesses to be one and triune. The God whom Christ Christ has given us is one and triune.
The Holy Trinity is the feast of God, whom the Christian faith confesses as one and triune. The God whom Christ revealed to us is a God who, being one, is a communion of persons: Father, Son and Holy Spirit; a living and personal God, who speaks to us of a God-Father who calls us all to be his children; a God-Providence who is close to us and present in history in our hearts. But above all a God – Love who is passionate for us, as the Gospel tells us today: «God so loved the world that he gave his only Son, that they might have eternal life, and that none of those who believe in him should perish; for God did not send his Son into the world to judge the world, but that the world through him might be saved» (Jn. 3:16-17). The Church, showing us Trinitarian love on a feast like this day, reminds us that Christ is not alone, but that he has a family behind him, someone who also loves him.God, fundamentally, is love.He does not and cannot do anything else but love; just as the sun cannot do anything else but warm and illuminate.
When we pray the Our Father we say: «Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven»; we ask God that his will be done here as it is there; this demands that we love, not just any old way, but in God’s way. Forgetting ourselves, because that is God’s love. To the one who loves in this way, everything speaks of God:
«I said to the almond tree: ‘Speak to me of God’ / And the almond tree blossomed / I said to the poor man: ‘Speak to me of God’ / And the poor man offered me his cloak / I said to my friend: ‘Speak to me of God’ / And the friend taught me to love / I said to my mother: ‘Speak to me of God’ / And the mother gave me a kiss on the forehead / I said to the enemy: ‘Speak to me of God’ / And the enemy held out his hand to me…»
To believe in the Trinity is to live in openness and generosity, overcoming selfishness.it is to live in communion, hoping to reach perfect union.
When we have not yet discovered that God is only Love, we relate to Him out of interest or fear.
The sign of the Cross reminds us of the presence of the Trinity in our lives, so let us reflect on this: «In the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.
PRAYER: Lord, may there be more solidarity and communion in the world, may we all feel united to you and to each other.
ACTION : This week defend unity, not as uniformity, but as a union among the different ones.
(Psalm: Dn 3:52-56) To you be glory and praise forever and ever!
«HAPPY SUNDAY TO ALL».
