Post-Synodal Apostolic Exhortation "Verbum Domini"

Pope Benedict XVI - Sat, Nov 13th 2010

   Benedict XVI - Friday November 12, 2010

Benedict XVI has just published the post-synodal apostolic exhortation "Verbum Domini", which reflects the ideas and proposals emerged from the Synod of Bishops, held in the Vatican in October 2008 on the theme "The Word of God in the life and mission of the Church."

It makes a passionate appeal to approach the Scriptures, never forgetting "that the foundation of all authentic Christian spirituality is the living Word of God proclaimed, host, celebrated and pondered in the Church." Benedict XVI's proposal in the document is to present the Word of God in dialogue with the problems that man must face in everyday life.

Benedict also invited to foster the biblical apostolate and biblical formation of pastoral agents and of all Christians in general helping to strengthen the whole Church missionary consciousness.

Finally, the Pope refers to making a broader and qualified commitment in the world of information and the Internet. "Our time must be increasingly a new time for listening to the Word of God and for a new evangelization, because" even now  the Risen Jesus tells, "Go into all the world and preach the Gospel to every creature."
