Commentary on the Gospel of

Fr. John O'Byrne, cmf

This miracle reminds me of the curing of the paralytic when " 'some men' appeared carrying on a bed a paralysed man who lowered him in front of Jesus". In this instance, " 'they' brought him a deaf man and asked him to lay his hand on him". In both cases there is no indication of the faith of the two men in need of healing, nor any request on their part for that healing. Perhaps, it was entirely the faith of those who brought the men to Jesus that brought about their healing. Do we have the faith to bring to Jesus in prayer those who have need of healing and who have little faith in Jesus or whose faith has been diminshed by suffering?
