Commentary on the Gospel of
Jesus’ mission was to create a new humanity, a new human person living in freedom with respect, and in harmony with those around him or her; a human person who is radically free to live the fullness of life. That includes laws and traditions- cultural, religious or political- that hinder him or her to grow toward this goal. The sabbath is only meaningful when it serves to achieve this goal. Kingship of God is fullness of life; and sabbath is only relevant while it facilitates us to experience God, his love, his mercy and his justice.
