Commentary on the Gospel of
Jesus is very clear and categorical that what matters is not the outside purity or the external appearance, but the purity of the heart. St. Paul puts it in practise when he encountered a problem in the Christian community and told them that neither circumcision nor uncircumcision counts for anything, but only faith working through love. There could be times in our life as well when we give externals more importance than the internal purity of our soul. For many of us, how we appear in front of others or what others tell about us is important than how we are in front of God or what God tells about us. Let us try to look for our internal purity than external appearances.
