Commentary on the Gospel of

Fr. Johnson Joseph Thurackal CMF

Thursday 25th  St James

2 Cor 4: 7-15; Mt 20: 20-28

James, a close confidante of Jesus, one who witnessed the Transfiguration and Agony of Jesus, and possibly the first martyr among the apostles.

The road this apostle trudged, gives us heart. The Gospel reading points to the worldly desires he had, and the first reading shows what he had to endure.

Evidently, the call to be a disciple of Jesus is no piece of cake.  Can I drink the chalice that Jesus, James, Paul and many other drank and are drinking today?
