Commentary on the Gospel of

Victoria Sanchez - School Teacher in Madrid

19th Sunday in Ordinary Time - "Whoever eats of this bread will live forever.

The Jews murmured at Jesus because he said to them, "I am the bread that came down from heaven." But Jesus said to them, "Stop murmuring. No one can come to me unless the Father brings him".

Murmuring is something we do easily. Generally, the one who murmurs does not like the world around him, nor the world inside him. Sometimes we judge too easely. It is necessary to know how to combine a critical sense with love and affection.

As believers, we should listen today in a special way to the words of Jesus to the Jews: "Murmur not. No one can come to me unless my Father who sent me brings him" (John 6, 43). Rather than filling our hearts with bitter criticism, we must always open them to the Father's action.  For in this world, not in another, we must go deeper into his Word and discover his presence.

Thank you Lord for the bread of your Word, which is bread for our lives. Give us a hunger for you.

(Psalm 33).  Taste and see how good is the Lord!

HAPPY SUNDAY TO ALL
