Commentary on the Gospel of
What are we hoping to find when we go in search for Jesus? Do we expect to see signs and wonders? Do we hope that God will bring order to our lives and help us find meaning? Do we seek the Lord because we love him and long to be with him.
Our daily lives are full of things that claim that they can bring us happiness. Advertisements for these things are everywhere – on television and the radio, on the internet, in magazines and newspapers, in our email inboxes and even on our phones. We are bombarded with messages designed to make us feel dissatisfied with our lives as they are and to convince us that the purchases they propose will make everything better.
But the Gospel offers a different message. Perishable things can never bring us the fulfillment and joy that we seek. The oy and fulfillment that will last comes from faith in God that will bring to eternal life.
