Body and Blood of Christ - "I AM THE LIVING BREAD"

The feast of the Body and Blood of Christ, or the Eucharist reminds us of its value and importance. This gift of Jesus is a wealth.

Christ in the gospel has been identified with the bread. "I am the living bread that came down from heaven. Whoever eats this bread will live forever. (Jn 6-51)

The Eucharist is not only a sign of unity, but also contributes to forming the unity of the Church. Christ, who makes his disciples communicate in his body, molds the community in his image. He undertakes and continues a work of construction that intimately unites people through the same faith and the same love. It is the center of our Christian life , fundamental to feed our life of faith, hope and charity. No one can live without eating. No kind of life can be preserved if it is not fed. And that mysterious but real life that all Christians have also needs to be fed, or it will end up disappearing and dying.

Looking more like Jesus every day should be the aspiration of every Christian. And if we want to identify ourselves with Him, we can do nothing better than to eat His body and blood many times. Jesus himself tells us: "He who eats my flesh and drinks my blood is in me and I in him. Just as the living Father sent me, and I live because of my Father, so he who eats me will live because of me" (Jn 6:56-57).

It is important to make ourselves strong in the face of the dangers of the enemies of our soul; it makes us faithful to our commitments to Christ and ensures our salvation and that of others.
