Commentary on the Gospel of

Fr. Stanislao, cmf

Paul thanks God for the Christian community of Thessalonica not because they became believers but because they testified to the faith they professed. As their faith grew, they increased in love for one another and embraced persecutions on account of their faith in Christ.

By their resounding testimony, these Christians became a point of reference, shining examples for other communities. Christians are invited not to emulate the scribes and pharisees who failing to offer credible witness, diverted the emphasis on the law, but to seek authentic relationship with God. The latter is the fount of authentic witnessing to Christ.
