Commentary on the Gospel of
The call of Levi and the events that followed at the house of Levi are summed up in the response of Jesus: “Those who are well do not need a physician, but the sick do. I did not come to call the righteous but sinners.”
God calls those whom he chooses and makes them fit for his ministry. Self-righteousness may bloat our ego but may keep us away from encountering the mercy of God that has been manifested to us in Christ.
