Commentary on the Gospel of
Gen 18: 1-10; Col 1: 24-28; Lk 10: 38-42
Plain hospitality is the theme of the First and Gospel readings. Its practice in our flesh through time, energy and material makes up what is needed to make Christ known today --- which is what is lacking today, as seen in the Second reading.
Notice the similarity in the roles of Sarah and Martha. And we marvel in the growth in the status of women with Jesus anointing Mary as a disciple who listens to the word of God --- a counter-cultural act on the part of Jesus.
